Yang di-Pertuan Agong arrives in Bangkok
Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, the King of Malaysia, was received with full military honours at Bangkok's military airport at the start of a four day state visit to neighbouring Thailand.
At the airport the King and Queen Nur Zahirah - Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Nur Zahirah - were met by Thai Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn and Princess Sirindhorn, who stood in for King Bhumibol and Queen Sirikit.
The Malaysian guest had an audience with the King and Queen of Thailand at the Grand Palace, preceded by the exchange of Royal Decorations. In the evening, the King and Queen of Thailand hosted a state banquet. In Malaysia one day earlier Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin called on the Muslims in his country "to appreciate the life history of Prophet Muhammad who had placed much emphasis on unity and solidarity to achieve excellence."
According to the New Straits Times the King said efforts to unite the community was an ongoing process in line with the demands and challenges of the 21st century.
"When a section of the population becomes greedy and places self-interest above others, ignoring noble values in pursuing material wealth, then various calamities will strike bringing destruction to the people and drawing the wrath of Allah,
